Ingredients
Method
- In a shaker, muddle the blueberries with basil simple syrup and lemon juice.
- Add vodka or gin and fill the shaker with ice.
- Shake vigorously for about 15 seconds until well-chilled.
- Double strain into a chilled Collins or coupe glass filled with fresh ice.
- Top with soda water and give it a gentle stir.
- Garnish with a basil sprig and a skewer of blueberries.
Notes
To make basil simple syrup: combine 1 cup sugar, 1 cup water, and a handful of fresh basil. Simmer until sugar dissolves, steep 15 minutes, then strain.
For a zero-proof version, omit the alcohol and increase soda water to 4 oz—it still delivers a refreshing, herbaceous kick.
